Troughs And Crests

Forbidden and forgotten,
I walk on thin ice.
I feel lonely, hurt,
And surprisingly nice.

Wandering withered
Blank look in my eyes,
A distant gaze comforts me,
As i feel i rise.

Barefoot and bareback,
I walk on narrow ridges,
Love you more than i've ever loved,
And try to build those bridges.

Shamed and shunned,
I walk my way.
They look to me for answers,
There's nothing I say.

Inherently impatient,
I wait for you here.
I force a languid smile and,
Drive away those tears.

Heartbroken and happy,
On river banks i stand,
Waiting for your ship to dock,
And you to hold my hand.
